Presentation copy, inscribed on half-title With best Compts. From the Author. With the bookplate of Ferguson of Raith. John Abercrombie (1780-1844), physician, was educated at Marischal College Aberdeen, and went on to study medicine at Edinburgh. The work was extremely popular and a number of editions appeared. The causes of this popularity were, no doubt, partly the numerous cases set forth of peculiar mental phenomena, whose detailed record made a dry subject easy and entertaining reading ... D.N.B.
