Product Description
CARNAP, Rudolf. Scheinprobleme in der Philosophie. Das Fremdpsychische und der Realismusstreit. Berlin: Weltkreis. 1928.
46 [2] pp. Original printed wrappers, frayed at edges and rather browned. First edition.
Carnap's monograph, which appeared in the same year as Der Logische Aufbau der Welt. Carnap, largely influenced by Wittgenstein, moved from skeptical neutrality regarding metaphysics to radical opposition. [This work] argued that metaphysical problems in general, and the problem of realism and idealism in particular, must be characterized as pseudo problems. This view soon came to prevail in the Vienna circle; Carnap persuaded even Schlick to abandon (perhaps not altogether) his realism. Norman M. Martin in The Encyclopedia of Philosophy.
